A Twilight Doubleheader

While growing up in Upstate New York, I loved to listen to the New York Yankees on the radio.  Real ballplayers – The Mick, Maris, Yogi, Moose Skowron, Whitey, Elston Howard, Bobby Richardson, Tony Kubek, Clete to name just a few.  I believe my math abilities later in life were enhanced because of my batting average and earned run calculations at as youngster.  No calculators – just back of the envelope arithmetic that evolved into memory and numerical tricks.  Night games were great but the ultimate was twilight doubleheaders – a 2-for-1 bargain!  The 60’s version of a Joseph A. Banks 2:1 shirt deal or a “Buy 1, Get 1 Free” strawberry sale at Harris Tweeter.
